Our hockey team is off to a great start this year posting a 6-1 record so far. The team has a big game at Griff’s Ice Arena on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. against Jenison. Come out and support the team!

Investigators seeking man for Plainfield Township debit card theft

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Kent County deputies hope an ATM photo leads to the arrest a man wanted for stealing a woman's debit card and taking cash from her account.

Deputies released the photo of the suspect Monday.

The theft took place on October 26. Investigators say the man stole the wallet of a 23-year-old Grand Rapids woman while she visited a business in Plainfield Township.

Several hours later, he allegedly used her debit card at a local bank's automatic teller machine to withdraw money.

Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call the Kent County Sheriff's Department, or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.

Are your closets BEGGING to be cleaned out?

The Northview HS Volunteer Board will collect men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing through December 10.  The clothes will be donated to Trinity Reformed Church’s “Community Closet,” a second-hand clothing store. The Volunteer Board partners with this church four times a year to make and serve dinner to the homeless population of GR, in addition to supporting the Community Closet.  Please bring gently-used clothing and outerwear to the main front lobby of NHS where there will be a table set-up for donations.

Highlands Middle School presents "An Early American Christmas"

Highlands Middle School presents "An Early American Christmas" on Saturday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The show explores Christmas traditions from early America until now. It is a feast for the eyes and ears with colorful colonial costumes, lively dance and dialog, and Christmas music.  Tickets are only $3 and may be reserved by e-mailing to northviewpactickets@yahoo.com or by calling 365-6114. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the day of the show.

UPDATE: Woman killed in Kent County car crash identified

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - The Kent County Sheriff's Department says Judith Vanzoeren, 69, was killed in a car crash at the intersection of Lindberg and Woodworth in Kent County Monday afternoon. 

Kent County deputies confirm Vanzoeren failed to stop while exiting the Meijer parking lot onto Woodworth.  She collided with a white car and then skidded into a tree. 

The two adults traveling in the white car were being treated for injuries.  The two children in that vehicle were unharmed.

Come one, come all to the Santa Breakfast on Saturday, December 4 from 9-11 a.m. at the Northview HS cafeteria.  Bring your family for a yummy breakfast of pancakes, French toast and more. Get pictures taken with Santa!  Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. Children under 3 are free. Photos are only $1. Enjoy live holiday music performed by Northview students.
