NVPS Saturday Night Fever - Band Auction 2010

An evening of fun awaits you! Dust off your disco shoes and come out on Saturday, November 20 from 6-9 p.m. at Northview HS cafeteria. The evening includes dinner, desserts, silent auction, live music from the 70s, and an elimination raffle. All proceeds benefit the Northview bands in grades 5-12.

Admission tickets are available by calling Julie (365-2679) or by e-mail at thekeurs5@ comcast.net. Tickets are $10/person (14 & older), $5/person (13 & younger), or $35/family (5 admissions). Elimination raffles this year include $500 cash and $250 cash. There will be 75 tickets for $15 each for the $500 cash raffle and 75 tickets for $10 each for the $250 cash raffle. There is a 50/50 raffle with tickets on sale now for $5 each and available for purchase the night of the auction until 8 p.m.

Plainfield Township Veteran’s Day Service

Plainfield Township and The Sons of the American Legion Squadron #258 are proud to present the Veteran’s Day Service November 11th, 2010 at 7pm. Expected to be in attendance are Township Supervisor George Meek, State Representative Tom Pearce. Also, taking part in the ceremony:  Sons of the American Legion 258 Color Guard, Northview High School Band, Pastor Dr. Kurt Kigar, and the Children’s Choir of Assumption Catholic School.  This is an open ceremony and the public is encouraged to attend. The Veteran’s Memorial Park is located at the intersection of Jupiter and Belmont, just north of West River Drive. This Service is dedicated to all of the men and women of the community who helped to preserve the freedom of this great nation!

UPDATE: Two people injured in Plainfield Avenue head-on crash

PLAINFIELD TWP. Mich. (WZZM) - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a head-on crash on Plainfield Avenue just south of Five Mile Road.

A WZZM 13 viewer called the Information Center around 2:30pm Monday afternoon to let us know about the crash.  The Kent County Sheriff's Department says a white Grand Am was traveling south on Plainfield when it collided with a northbound silver Dakota pick-up truck.  The driver and passenger in the Grand Am were transported to the hospital.  One is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition.

The driver of the truck was arrested and taken in for toxicology tests.

At this time investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash. 

As of 3:00pm, the southbound side of the road was closed. The northbound side of Plainfield Avenue remained open.

Kent County accident injures two

Oakfield Township, Mich. (WZZM) -  An early morning accident injured to young men in Oakfield Township.

Kent County Sheriff's Deputies say the accident happened around six Sunday morning when a car traveling east on 16 Mile Road lost control going into a curve, hit a tree and overturned.

Both the driver, a 22 year old man and the passenger a 24 year old man were transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital for injuries they received from the crash.

Only one car was involved in the accident and it is still being investigated by the Kent County Sheriff's Department.
