NPS Superintendent's Blog - Alignment

From: NPS Superintendent's Blog

One of the "ends" (outcomes) established by our Board of Education clearly states that "Northview will provide a curriculum that will be structured to provide all students with knowledge, skills and tools to become highly literate."  My visit to West Oakview Elementary this morning confirmed that our teaching staff, community, and Board of Education are aligning resources to accomplish this important "end."

Craig Terpstra, President of the North East Business Association, presented a check for $1,500 to assist our three elementary schools in the purchase of literature books (fiction and non-fiction) to meet the needs of students at various reading levels.  It was very clear that the School Improvement Plan (SIP) goal related to reading is aligned with the District Improvement Plan reading goals, and the District Plan

NVPS - Black Out Pediatric Cancer

From: http://www.nvps.net/

Northview Community, on October 8th, you have a chance to take part in "Black Out Pediatric Cancer" day. This will be a time when all of our students and community can come together to celebrate the health of our students and help those who are less fortunate and are experiencing trial in their life with Pediatric Cancer.

Pediatric Cancer does not discriminate against race, gender, age, athlete, scholar, musician, sibling, child or friend. Did you know that approximately 12,500 children or teens in the U.S. are diagnosed every year with a form of Pediatric Cancer? Did you know that in the U.S. about 46 children or teens are diagnosed with cancer on every weekday? Northview has unfortunately had several families who have been part of that statistic. That is why we are so grateful for the many healthy lives that walk those halls everyday.

Boosters Brewing Wildcat Coffee

From: http://www.nvps.net

As part of our ongoing effort to raise funds for vital athletic programs at NHS, the Athletic Boosters will roll out a new program that is sure to be a winner…our own Northview signature coffee! The benefits are many. For the small-scale farmers in East Africa who produce the coffee, each purchase improves their livelihoods. At the same time Northview Boosters generate needed funds for athletics. Northview friends and families have the distinct pleasure of drinking freshly roasted, full-bodied, gourmet coffee packaged in specially designed custom bags!

Boosters make it easy for you to purchase the Northview Wildcat Blend. Available in both regular and decaf, the coffee is offered for sale at the first home varsity football game on September 10, at the NHS Open House on September 14 and at the Spirit Store. Beginning in October, folks can order coffee online!
