PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A cozy hat can help keep a body warm on a cold day. That's why the Wednesday afternoon sewing class at Gall Sewing Center is making some caps to share with West Michigan children.
Members of the group donated fleece and other materials. The staff at Gall is providing instruction and patterns.
WZZM 13's Phil Dawson is among the participants in the sewing project.
The group hopes the project will suspport agencies facing financial difficulties.
"Many of the organizations that provide many of these warm hats have had budget cuts," says Debbie Schaap, a sewing instructor at Gall. "They don't have as much money to provide, so we decided we would like to fill in that gap a little bit."
The hats from this project will go to the West Michigan Quilters Guild for distribution to various agencies.
