NVPS - Update on Legislative Consideration of Full Day Kindergarten

NVPS - Update on Legislative Consideration of Full Day Kindergarten

As you may be aware, the Michigan Legislature is deliberating whether or not to force school districts to implement the "full-day kindergarten" legislation for the 2012/13 school year (next year).  Currently the State funds half-day kindergarten students at a full-day per student rate (like students in grades 1 - 12).  The legislators are now debating whether or not to cut funding to half for half-day students and only fully fund full-day if kindergarten students attend full day.

NVPS - Thank You for Your Careful Consideration of Solutions

NVPS - Thank You for Your Careful Consideration of Solutions

Dear Families, Community Members, Staff & Students,

Thank you for your careful consideration of Bond Proposals I and II.  As a result Proposal I – Critical for Learning was approved by voters on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.  Proposal II – Quality of Life was not approved by voters.  While this is a very difficult economic time for many in our community, your vision for the future of Northview carried the vote for Proposal I.

Voters did a very detailed review of the components of the bond proposals, assessed the economic impact on their families and businesses and made an informed vote.  Now we engage in the project planning process and I assure you we will share the time lines with the entire community.  You will be able to track our progress as individual projects of Proposal I are started and finished.

Proposal II - More than just a pool for the swim team

Proposal II - More than just a pool for the swim team

We greatly appreciate the GR Press Editorial Board endorsement of Bond Proposal I - Critical for Learning and their very clear review of Bond Proposal II - quality of life.  We especially appreciated their observation that the pool is a school AND a community asset.  Proposal II is much more than just a pool.  Here are some additional considerations regarding Proposal II:
