Plainfield restaurants to participate in Restaurant Week Grand Rapids

Experience Grand Rapids has revealed the participating restaurants in this year's Restaurant Week Grand Rapids, and there are even participating restaurants in the Plainfield area.

70 restaurants have signed on to the event, which will run from November 3 through November 13th.  In the Plainfield area, Blue Water Grill, the Acorn Grille and the Score Restaurant & Sports Bar will be part of the celebration.

Most establishments will offer a creative 3-course menu for $25 per person (not including tax or tip).  Some restaurants will offer a 2-for-$25 menu to appeal to more budget conscious diners.

The menus will be unveiled the week of October 10th.

Delectable DECKstinations!

Delectable DECKstinations!

By Latesha Lipscomb

As the weather warms, there’s no place I’d rather be than outdoors, enjoying a scenic view, a cool beverage and great conversation. NOW TRENDING took a trip around west Michigan to experience decks and patios for you to enjoy this summer. Here’s a list of my personal favorites…

See and Be Seen – Jdek at the JW Marriott (235 Louis Campau NW) reopens their stylish and newly renovated outdoor patio for guests June 10. This is the place to be for a fantastic dining experience in a cosmopolitan setting along the Grand River. Sexy, stylish, chic…Jdek is HOT, HOT, HOT!

Time for Ice Cream!

Time for Ice Cream!

It's a sure sign of spring.  Trailside treats has re-opened along the White Pine Trail.  The ice cream shop located on Belmont Avenue is now open daily.

One Good Burger

One Good Burger

As a person who eats hamburgers on a nearly daily basis, it takes a lot to impress me. I went with a friend to Bud & Stanley's Pub and Grill to watch a bit of the Tigers game, and had one of the thickest, tastiest pub burgers I've ever eaten. Bud & Stanley's Pub and Grill is located on 4 Mile Road just off of Plainfield Avenue.

Little Pearl Cupcakes…Big Flavor

Little Pearl Cupcakes…Big Flavor

I had heard about a new cupcake shop opening on GRNOW.com and wanted to check it out. Little Pearl is a cute little shop located across from Family Fare on Northland Drive. This place is heavy on the Pink, but it works. It is almost like the pink and white stripes the wall is painted and all the little hanging cupcakes pictures are a subliminal message to buy cupcakes.

I met Niki one of the owners and she was very friendly and happy to talk about her cupcakes. They had a handful of flavors and they all looked excellent. I ended up with a ‘Latte’, ‘Pina Colada’, and a ‘Chocolate Carmel Pretzel Peanut Butter’. Yeah that last one tastes as good as it sounds, but more on that in a minute.

Niki told me a little about her business and how she and her friend Emily started doing cakes and cupcakes just for family and friends.
