GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- Experience Grand Rapids and the Kent County Lodging Association have opened the 6th Annual WAVE Award nominations.

The annual awards program recognizes outstanding service providers in the Grand Rapids and Kent County hospitality industry. Nominations will be accepted from employers and guests from April 30 to Oct.7, 2013. One award will be presented in each of the following categories: Transportation, Retail & Service, Attractions/Events, and Nightlife. New categories to the 2013 awards program include: Restaurants/Breweries, Lodging, and Volunteer in Hospitality.

Few of us need an excuse to order pizza. But if you need one tomorrow, you can sit down at Flo's Pizzeria Ristorante & Sports Bar 1259 Post Drive in Belmont, and help some local musicians. When you sit down to eat at Flo's and use a voucher from Northview school, then 20% of regular-priced menu items you order will go to the Northview Band. This is for Tuesday only from 4:00pm until 10:30pm.

Experience Grand Rapids has revealed the participating restaurants in this year's Restaurant Week Grand Rapids, and there are even participating restaurants in the Plainfield area.

70 restaurants have signed on to the event, which will run from November 3 through November 13th.  In the Plainfield area, Blue Water Grill, the Acorn Grille and the Score Restaurant & Sports Bar will be part of the celebration.

Most establishments will offer a creative 3-course menu for $25 per person (not including tax or tip).  Some restaurants will offer a 2-for-$25 menu to appeal to more budget conscious diners.

The menus will be unveiled the week of October 10th.
