Anna's House is a Winner in my Book

Anna's House is a Winner in my Book

I had the pleasure of having lunch at Anna’s House on Plainfield with my friend Barb Thompson last week for the first time. I have heard reports from others that the food is really good but now I know it to be true.

We both had burgers and it is one of the few places that ask how you would like the burger cooked. I’m guessing it is a sirloin burger because the flavor was so awesome and it was cooked to perfection. My choice was the bacon blue burger, truly a delicious burger. Even the bun was warmed, not something you always get unless you request it and I think that adds so much to a great sandwich.

Anna’s House is located at 3874 Plainfield NE in Grand Rapids, MI and is open Monday – Sunday from 6am – 2pm with breakfast served anytime. Phone: 616-361-8500 or you can go to urbanspoon.com to see the menu firsthand.

My Town: New plans for former Gaslight Village restaurant

My Town: New plans for former Gaslight Village restaurant

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—New plans are in the mix for the former home of Ramona’s Table.

The owners of the former Gaslight Village restaurant have sold their space at 2232 Wealthy Street SE to the owners of Rio Grand Steakhouse in Plainfield Township.  It’s unclear if Rio Grand Steakhouse is planning to open a second restaurant, or move its current establishment at 5501 Northland Drive into the space.

Ramona’s Table moved to the corner of Squires and Bridge in Rockford, where it opened Aug 1.  The owners say their new space can accommodate more than 160 people- more than their old restaurant. Co-owner Jackie Ziehm also says Rockford also had a liquor license available, allowing Ramona’s Table to add Michigan beers and wines to its expanded farm-to-table menu.

Caught Being Safe program launches statewide

Michigan State Police, local law enforcement and Michigan’s Field Neurosciences Institute have teamed up with McDonald’s of Michigan to once again launch “Caught Being Safe,” a statewide bicycle/scooter helmet safety program. According to the Field Neurosciences Institute (of Michigan): “Caught Being Safe! has shown a significant increase in both helmet utilization and public awareness regarding the critical importance of wearing a bicycle helmet. This program has impacted not only children but adults as well.”
