ROCKFORD, Mich.—A spokesperson for Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank says Rockford Restaurant Week 2014 was a great success.

According to organizers, participating restaurants served up more than 800 of their specialty meals to patrons during Rockford Restaurant Week.  For each sale, participating restaurants donated the equivalent of 4.5 meals, which totaled to more than 3,600 meals for those in need.  That’s 25 percent higher than last year, and comes at a time when demand for Feeding America West Michigan’s services are at a record high.

This was the second year for Rockford Restaurant Week.  Modeled after Grand Rapids’ Restaurant Week, the event is designed to raise awareness about the diverse food Rockford offers, while funding hunger relief through Feeding America West Michigan.
