Northview Baseball at Fifth Third Park - You are Invited!

If you are looking for a day to come out and watch the Northview Varsity Baseball Team this season, mark your calendar for May 8. The Wildcats take on rival East Grand Rapids in a key conference double header clash at Fifth Third Park on May 8 at 4:15 p.m.

The Wildcats and Pioneers will play two games, so come on out to the park whenever you can make it.

Go Wildcats! Play Ball!

Track at Houseman Field

Grand Rapids, MI--Grand Rapids Public Schools Creston High School Polar Bears fared well during their first track meet at Houseman Field this afternoon hosting the Northview High School Wildcats. Creston won many races including the girls 4-hundred meter. Northview also did well winning several competition including the boys 16-hundred meter. GRPS will host an invatational Track meet at Houseman Field this Satuday April 14th at 9am.

DNR is holding meetings on fishing regulation proposals

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Southern Lake Michigan Management Unit in Fisheries Division has announced meetings in the Lansing, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids areas to discuss local and statewide fishing regulation proposals.

The meetings will be held on the following dates in the following locations:

Monday, March 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Delta Township Library (5130 Davenport, Lansing)
Tuesday, March 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Portage Library (300 Library Lane, Portage)
Monday, April 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Plainfield Charter Township Office (6161 Belmont Ave, NE, Belmont)

Several local regulation proposals will be discussed at the meetings, including the following:

Removing Bluejay Creek (Berrien County) and Spring Creek (St. Joseph County) from the Designated Trout Streams list.

Winning Wednesday Is A Winner

There is a saying in sports, "Winning Builds Momentum". When it comes the the Grand Rapids Griffins it pays off in more ways than one. Its called "Winning Wednesday"

Here is how it works and it is pretty simple. Come to a Wednesday game, Griffins win, You get to come to the next Wednesday home game for free. Yes free!

Already on their fourth mid-week game the Griffins are 3-1 with the only loss coming during the November matinee game. Because of the noon start of that game, the Griffins honored their first Wednesday win for the next Wednesday game the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

One of the premises of the promotion is to get fans to weekday games that traditionally have low attendance. Tonight's game was played before a crowd of 5,586. The Griffins won in a shootout. With the win, all of the fans at the game can exchange their ticket for the next Wednesday game.

The lines started at the box office right after the game.

Tickets to the Rockford game showing that they were exchanged from a previous win.

Cash bar is open 6:30 - 12:30 p.m., buffet style beef and chicken dinner is served 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., and live music with a DJ by Diva Productions from 8:30 - 1. You'll also have opportunity to participate in a 50/50 raffle.

We greatly appreciate the GR Press Editorial Board endorsement of Bond Proposal I - Critical for Learning and their very clear review of Bond Proposal II - quality of life.
