KDL - Snow Day? Stay Home!

Temperatures are falling and winter is just around the corner. As we all prepare for poor driving conditions, snow shoveling and bundling up in coats, hats, and gloves, we thought we would fill you in on a policy you might not be aware of. There may be days this winter that driving conditions are so dangerous that we close our library branches. If this occurs, please don’t worry about returning items due that day. Stay safe! During snow closures, you will not accrue fines for returning your items a day late.

Emergency closings will be posted to our website. If  the weather is frightful, check to see if we are open before venturing out!

Icy conditions close area schools

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Last night brought a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, snow and ice to the area and with it came the closing of several area schools including Northview Public Schools.

Snow will continue north while freezing rain/sleet will change to snow from north to south along and south of I-96 during the afternoon. Temperatures will continue to fall into the mid to upper 20s.

It would be natural to think that learning stopped for the duration of the warning and that all other support services shut down as well.  Immediately after the warning was lifted I headed to the monthly senior citizen luncheon.  Over 40 people were just finishing up the pre-meal prayer with a word of thanks for keeping everyone safe.  On a normal day, student volunteers from the h
